There is NOTHING better in the world than chocolate chip cookies. I’m pretty sure on the 7th day, God rested and made chocolate chip cookies.
In the past, I’ve made Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies, Double-Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies–but I’m on a mission to make the PERFECT chocolate chip cookie.
Ingredients:
- 1 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. hot water
- 3 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. mini chocolate chips
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a standing mixer, combine the butter, sugar and brown sugar.
- Add in the eggs, vanilla, baking soda, water and salt.
- Mix in flour, one cup at a time.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop the dough into small teaspoons and roll into little balls and flatten them with the palm of your hand, creating small discs.Â

- Bake for 10 minutes on parchment paper lined baking sheets.
What do you do to make the PERFECT chocolate chip cookie? What about adding coconut? How about using shortening instead of butter? Any tips for the next batch?

I tried making these cookies but they just came out flat. They look more like biscuits in that top picture. Should I have used the flour better for baking bread or the self-rising? I just used all-purpose.
Hmm..that’s odd. What was the consistency of the dough when you were prepping? I use all-purpose flour too and they are normally quite fluffy. Are you sure you used the right amount of baking soda?
The only thing I did differently from the directions is I mixed it with a wooden spoon instead of using a mixer. The dough seemed pretty normal to me. Not too thick or too thin. Also, I wasn’t sure if I should have melted the butter before adding it in or not. I don’t know that that would have made any difference, but I do plan to make them again today. I’ll be extra careful and pay more attention to the ingredients this time. They tasted great, it’s just that they didn’t come out looking like I thought they would. Thank you for responding!
